Kyle Marini

MA Candidate

An M.A. candidate, Kyle has been fascinated with the cultures of Pre-Columbia since an early age; an interest which has recently led him to the Penn State University as an advisee of Dr. Amara Solari. Combining an analysis of the Quechua language with the study of Pre-Columbian textiles, Kyle hopes to reimagine the conversation surrounding art of the Inca and earlier Andean cultures to reconsider the function of a pan-Andean visual notation known as the Tocapu. He plans to investigate the intelligibility and semantic meaning envisaged within the Tocapu through a Quechua lens, particularly when woven into Inca textiles
